Meet the author

The real story behind Doctor Dave.

Nisreen is a family-law attorney in Austin, Texas, where she spends her days helping kids and families work through some of their hardest moments. She grew up in Houston as the oldest sister in a close Pakistani family, studied at UT Austin, and went on to law school in Michigan before coming home to Texas.

Her younger brother became a doctor. That's where Doctor Dave came from. And Lawyer Lilly? That one is based on Nisreen herself.

Nisreen lives in Austin with her husband, Aliasgar, and is expecting their first child this year. Doctor Dave and Lawyer Lilly is her debut picture book and the first in a series about the grown-up jobs kids see every day, and the many ways people spend their time helping.
